Why I Built Ally

A founder's story about discovering that
small is the competitive advantage!

I spent 25 years in operational roles across different types of organizations—in the field, instructor, chairperson, general manager and director-level positions. Most recently, I was with a multinational company with over 3,500 employees.

Then I joined a 13-person firm, and I'll be honest — I was nervous.

No dedicated IT team. No enterprise software. No data managers or specialized departments. We were budget-conscious and had to figure things out on our own. Everything I'd relied on at larger companies was suddenly gone.

Then I started using AI to help with our workflows, and I had a revelation:
we were actually better positioned than the big company I'd just left.

Think about it: big companies have layers of bureaucracy. They need months to make decisions. They've invested millions in legacy systems they can't easily change. Every new initiative requires approvals, committees, and change management processes.

But the small firm? We could make decisions in an afternoon. We could try things, fail fast, and adapt. We could build workflows specifically for how we actually worked—not how some enterprise software vendor thought we should work.

Being small was actually an advantage in the AI age. We were nimble. We were flexible. We could innovate without fighting bureaucracy.

But There's a Problem

That realization came with a worry: small businesses risk being completely left behind in the AI revolution.

Not because AI doesn't work for them — but because they don't know what it can do, don't have time to figure it out, and are (rightfully) skeptical of overhyped technology.

Generic AI tools like ChatGPT are amazing — but they require you to figure everything out yourself. Enterprise AI consultants charge $50K+ and speak a language small businesses don't. There's nothing in between.

That's Why I Built Ally

I genuinely believe small businesses deserve access to AI that actually works for how they operate.

AI that learns YOUR business. That works WITH you to discover opportunities. That helps you compete without needing a tech team or enterprise budget.

After 25+ years seeing how different organizations work—from the field level to director roles, from massive corporations to small teams—I've learned something important:

The best solutions come from understanding how work actually gets done, not from consulting decks or enterprise software demos.

That's what Ally is: AI built from real operational experience, designed for businesses that need to move fast and stay nimble, without sacrificing the power that makes AI transformative.

The Mission

Every small business should have access to AI that works for them — not just for enterprise companies with hefty budgets.

If you're a small business owner who's heard about AI but doesn't know where to start, who's tired of generic tools and can't afford enterprise consulting — Ally is for you.
